Four booked in teen’s kidnap case

GUJRANWALA: The Cantonment police registered a case against four people on charges of kidnapping a girl while she was returning home from college.

Jamshed Ahmad, a resident of Gakhar Mandi, submitted an application to the local station house officer that his 17-year-old daughter was a second-year student in government girls college, Rahwali. On Wednesday, he went to the college to pick up his daughter, but she was nowhere to be found.

He later found out that the girl’s friend, Ayesha, along with her brother Nauman, Shehbaz, Saira and Taj had kidnapped his daughter.

A case was registered against the suspects.

GANGSTER KILLED: An allegedly notorious gangster was killed in firing by his own accomplices during an ‘encounter’ on Tuesday night, while his associates managed to escape.

Atif alias Aati Lahoria was allegedly involved in dozens of murder, robbery and extortion cases. Since 2010, he was extorting money from Alipur Chattha, Kamoki, Ferozewala, Ladhewala Warraich and other areas.

After a few years, he fled abroad where he was running his own gang. Police arrested him in 2017 and handed him over to Serbia, Bosnia and Hungary police for legal action.

On Monday, the Hungarian government handed over Atif to Punjab police. A sub-inspector of Alipur Chattha received him and kept him at an undisclosed location. On Tuesday, police got his six-day physical remand from court.

According to police, a team of Alipur Chattha police station was taking Atif for recovery on Tuesday night when his unidentified accomplices allegedly attacked the police van to set him free.

The firing resulted in Atif’s killing, while his accomplices managed to escape.

His body was handed over to his family on Wednesday.
