Two men shot dead in different incidents

KARACHI: Two persons were shot dead and another two wounded in different violent incidents in the city on Sunday.

In Ittehad Town, a man, later identified as Khalid Mehsud, was killed and two youths were wounded when assailants riding a motorcycle resorted to firing, according to police and Edhi Foundation.

They said that the incident took place at Pareeshan Chowk in the Ittehad Town area. The victims were transported to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced one of them dead on arrival.

Deceased Khalid Mehsud was identified by residents of the neighbourhood as he did not have a CNIC with him, said area SHO Zafar Ali Shah. The officer said the victim originally hailed from Waziristan and had come to the city recently. He lived with his wife in Faqeer Colony of Orangi Town, the police officer added.

The wounded youths were identified as Abdul Wahab, 26, and Bilal Sadiq, 14. The police suspected some personal enmity being the motive for the attack but an Edhi Foundation spokesman believed that it was a robbery attempt.

In another incident, a 40-year old man was shot dead by suspected robbers over resistance in Saeedabad late on Saturday night, according to police.

They said that unknown suspects tried to snatch cash and other valuables from Rehmatullah in Yusuf Goth and upon resisting their attempt, the suspects shot him and fled.

The victim suffered critical bullet wounds and was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
