RAWALPINDI: The weather in the twin cities turned pleasant after a light drizzle on Friday while more rain is expected in the next 48 hours.

Rainfall began at sunrise and continued throughout the day until evening, creating a mess on roads in low-lying areas.

According to a Met official, a westerly wave is affecting western and upper parts of the country and will persist till Sunday which means rain-wind-thunderstorm (with isolated hailstorm) is expected in upper/central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohat, Bannu, Peshawar, Kurram, Waziristan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Khushab, Mianwali, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal, Sialkot, Lahore, Kasur, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Jhang.

There was a thunderstorm in districts of KP, Balochistan, Kashmir, upper Sindh, Punjab, Islamabad and GB. The Met office recorded 3 mm of rain at airport and Zero Point, 2mm at Saidpur, 1mm at Golra and Bokra in Islamabad, 2mm at Shamsabad and 1mm at Chaklala in Rawalpindi whereas 4mm in Murree.

Friday’s highest maximum temperatures are: Dadu, Mithi 39°c, Thatta, Rahim Yar Khan, Hyderabad, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad 37°C.
