Over 200 vehicles impounded over SOP violation
PESHAWAR: The traffic police have taken action against more than 20,000 people for violating Covid-19 safety measures in the provincial capital in a week and also impounded 204 public transport vehicles.
A statement issued here said that the weeklong SOPs enforcement measures, police took action against 20,985 people in different parts of the city for violating the safety protocols.
It said that 204 public transport vehicles were impounded for violating the Covid-19 SOPs while 611 people were taken into custody.
The statement quoted the chief traffic officer, Abbas Majeed Marwat, as saying that police would continue its Covid-19 awareness drive while action would be taken against those violating the safety measures.
Mr Abbas directed the traffic officials to ensure implementation of government directions related to Covid-19.
