‘Negligent anti-polio workers to face action’

HYDERABAD: Commissioner Mohammad Abbas Baloch has asked all deputy commissioners of the division to further improve all indicators regarding polio eradication campaign in their respective districts so that the future generation could be saved from the crippling virus.

The commissioner issued these directives while presiding over a video-link meeting with deputy commissioners of Hyderabad division and members of the divisional task force on polio on Tuesday.

He asked the officers concerned to focus their attention on those union councils where unsatisfactory performance was being reported. The persons found involved in negligence should be identified so that positive results could be achieved from low-performing union councils, he added.

The commissioner appreciated performance of Hyderabad DC Fuad Ghaffar Soomro and Dadu DC Samiullah Nisar Ali Shaikh for achieving desired results in the anti-polio campaign run from January to March 2021 and announced commendation certificates for them.

Additional Commissioner Tahir Ali Memon briefed the participants about progress of the campaign in the division and pointed out that no fresh polio case had been reported in any part of the division during the first three months of the current year.
