‘Govt paying attention to education, health’

LOWER DIR: The chairman of district development advisory committee, MPA Liaqat Ali, has said that government is paying special attention to education and health sectors.

He said that there would be no compromise on quality of work during execution of uplift schemes in the district. He was talking to journalists during his visit to the under-construction girls’ college in Lal Qila Maidan. The project will be completed in the current year at a cost of Rs270 million.

The lawmaker said that completion of the project would facilitate girl students of his constituency in getting higher education.

He said that government was keeping check on execution of development projects. He also directed the contractor to expedite work on the project and asked the locals to keep an eye on uplift schemes in their area to maintain quality of work.

JIRGA: A local jirga settled a blood feud between two families in Tangi Talash area the other day.

A function in this regard was held in Tangi Talash wherein the rivals embraced each other and promised to live like brothers in future. The families of Alamgir and Rahatullah had a feud for the last eight years.

The function was addressed by Gujjar Qaumi Movement chief Haji Zarin Khan, former registrar of Peshawar High Court Advocate Sher Shah, religious scholar Mohammad Rahim Haqqani, former district councillor Ibrahim Khan and others.

They shed light on importance of jirga system in resolution of disputes.
