PESHAWAR: A delegation of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) led by its former president Riaz Arshad on Friday met Peshawar deputy commissioner Khalid Mehmood and apprised him about the problems the businessmen were facing in the wake of the restrictions imposed after surge in coronavirus cases.

The delegation also comprised former SCCI presidents Malik Niaz Ahmad, Adeel Rauf, traders’ leader Nadeem Rauf, Javed Akhtar and Malik Mukhtiar.

The delegation informed the deputy commissioner about the issues pertaining to the Hayatabad Industrial Estate and closure of bazaars after imposition of the Covid-19-induced restrictions.

Speaking on the occasion, Riaz Arshad called for addressing the problems of traders and industrialists. He also highlighted the reservations of the traders’ community regarding closure of markets on Saturdays and Sundays due to the Covid-19 resurgence.
