Two shot dead over old enmity in Bannu

LAKKI MARWAT: Two people were killed over old enmity in Nasrikhel and Bachkai areas of Bannu district on Wednesday.

Police said the incidents occurred in the limits of Janikhel police station. They said that Hazrat Umar and Osama shot and killed Bakhtullah, 46, in Nasrikhel.

Separately, Habibullah, 75, was gunned down by his rivals in Bachkai Janikhel area. Police said the alleged killers, including Gulai, Zarmatullah, Rehmatullah and Rehmanullah, fled the place.

They said they registered separate cases against the alleged killers and had started investigations.

HASHISH SEIZED: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two motorcyclists with a big quantity of hashish near Baistkhel area of Lakki Marwat.

An official said that a party of Serai Gambila police station intercepted two suspected motorcyclists on the Indus Highway and during search seized 10kg hashish from them.

“Police arrested both the men identified as Saifur Rehman and Asadullah hailing from North Waziristan and impounded their bike,” he said, adding that a case had been registered against them.

Also on the day, police arrested three alleged gamblers during a raid in Lakki city.

An official said that a party of city police station arrested Ihsanullah, Rehmatullah and Naeem during a raid on a hotel at Michenkhel Adda and seized the stake money.

The official said several accomplices of the arrested men managed to escape.

ANTI-COVID DRIVE: Lakki Marwat and Tank administrations launched campaigns on Wednesday to sensitise people about precautions against Covid-19 and ensure implementation of the relevant standard operating procedures by the business community and other people.

In Lakki Marwat, additional ACs Aminullah Khan and Ishaq Ali Khan led SOPs awareness and ‘no mask, no entry’ drive and distributed free facemasks among citizens during visits to bazaars and educational institutions in Lakki Marwat, Naurang, Tajazai, Gandi and other towns.

In Tank, additional assistant commissioner Shaukat Iqbal met teachers, students and government officials during visits to schools and offices to sensitise them about implementation of Covid-19 SOPs.
