Anti-dengue measures in Lower Dir reviewed

LOWER DIR: Deputy commissioner Aun Haidar Gondal said here on Wednesday that negligence of concerned departments in prevention of dengue fever would not be tolerated.

He was chairing a meeting of the district emergency response committee for anti-dengue measures, which was held in Balambat and attended by deputy district health officer Dr Irshad Rughani, local government assistant director, tehsil municipal officers and other officers from different departments.

Mr Gondal asked the participants to arrange a door-to-door awareness campaign with focus on areas where dengue cases were reported last year. It was decided that meetings of the committee would be held regularly in order to review the performance of different government departments regarding prevention of dengue fever in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said the officers of concerned departments should be active in the field to achieve the desired results of the campaign.

Chairing another meeting regarding beautification of Timergara city, the DC asked the local administration to ensure timely completion of the project.

The meeting was attended by Timergara TMO Shakeel Hayat and other related officials. Mr Hayat briefed the forum about various locations where green belts would be constructed. It was stated that the government had approved Rs70 million for beautification of the city.
