Gorakh negligence

THE Gorakh Hill station is undoubtedly one of the most attractive tourist spots in the country. It is a pity that even the most basic facilities are not available for tourists at Gorakh, making it hard, if not impossible, for people to venture out. The road which leads from Johi to Wahi Pandhi and subsequently to the hill station is in a rough condition. Seasonal hill torrents from the Kirthar hills have ruined this road completely and no repair work has been undertaken since.

The administration of the Gorakh Hill still leaves no stone unturned when it comes to emptying the pockets of the tourists.

Hotels and restaurants are owned by those who happen to be in the good books of the authorities without any tender or legal formalities. The prices they charge for goods and services are so high that even the local people who have relatively easier access to the Hill cannot afford to visit the site in their own backyard. This is sheer injustice to the local people and tourists alike.

Every year, billions of rupees are designated for the development of tourist destinations, but nothing improves at Gorakh Hill.
