Deceased maid’s family cry out for justice

FAISALABAD: The death of a maid under mysterious circumstances sparked a protest demonstration as her parents demanded registration of a murder case against her employers.

However, police said initially it surfaced that a cupboard accidentally fell on the girl which killed her.

Reports said eleven-year-old Shazia who worked as domestic help at a house at Khayaban Colony was brought to the Allied hospital in critical condition. She breathed her last after some time.

Parents and relatives of the girl staged a protest demonstration outside the morgue of the Allied Hospital where they threw traffic out of gear while lying on the road. They did not allow the motorists to cross the protest and chanted slogans for justice.

The family alleged that her employers had killed her and shifted her to hospital.

They said police were trying to protect employer Bilal rather than serving justice. The girl was subjected to torture by the employers but police were not ready to listen to them, the agitators added.

Meanwhile, the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau officials are in contact with the bereaved family and assured them that all sorts of help would be ensured.

They said police arrested the suspect after registration of the case. The postmortem report would clear the cause of her death, they added.

Police said that a case under section 322 of the PPC had been registered with the Madina Town police against the suspect on the application of Ahmed Ali, father of the deceased.

It said police registered a case according to the application of Ali.
