Vintage car rally held to promote tourism

TAXILA: A vintage and classic car rally was held in Attock on Sunday with an aim to promote domestic tourism.

Around 20 unique cars manufactured between the 1930s and 1970s along with modified models were showcased at the rally which started from Gurdwara Punja Sahib and ended at Attock Fort.

Participants of the rally also visited the temple and the famous Lalarukh tomb. Classic cars including Rolls-Royce, Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith and older models of Mercedes and American Chevrolet were displayed at the rally.

Deputy Commissioner Ali Annan Qammar said that the rally aimed to highlight the importance of scenic places and tourism in the district, adding that the rally would certainly help build a peaceful image of the country.

Assistant Commissioner Zunaira Jalil said the rally was organised in collaboration with Heritage Motoring Club of Pakistan. She said after the inauguration of the Safari train from Golra Railway Station to Attock Khurd Station, this was the second initiative under public-private partnership.

Ms Jalil appreciated the efforts of the rally participants.
