British Council to guide KU students on scholarship, exchange programmes

KARACHI: The British Council will help connect Karachi University (KU) with various universities of the United Kingdom and guide students for scholarship and exchange programmes.

This was stated by British Council Sindh and Balochistan director Michael Houlgate on Saturday in a meeting with Karachi University acting Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi in the university.

They discussed issues of mutual interest and joint working opportunities between Karachi University and the British Council.

Mr Houlgate said that the Visual Studies Department of the university and the British Council were working on a project and expressed the hope to work on other projects with other departments in near future.

He appreciated skills and talents of the faculty and students.

Dr Iraqi said the varsity was trying to promote online education due to Covid-19 pandemic.

He added that the university had completed the teaching process through online classes by using modern technology.

He said a delegation of the British Council should visit the university to share complete details regarding scholarships and other programmes, including students and faculty exchange programmes in British universities and provide information to students.

He suggested that a group of 25 students from different departments of the university would be formed and the delegation from the British Council would provide them detailed information on scholarships, students and faculty exchange programmes as well as rules and regulations, and all facilities.

Dr Iraqi observed that the students of the said group would then pass on this information to other students in their respective departments. He appreciated the steps taken by the British Council for the promotion of education and expressed the hope that teachers and students of the varsity would also take full advantage of these initiatives.
