RECENTLY, the Punjab livestock minister announced at a press conference that they had devised a house job model for veterinary students of the province, which is still in a preliminary phase, but is likely to be adopted from the next year. This has been assured by the Punjab chief minister as well.
On the other hand, veterinary students in Sindh have been pretty vocal regarding the issue for a number of years. They have been knocking at every relevant door for long, but it is beyond comprehension why the Sindh livestock department has turned a blind eye to this issue.
DVM and MBBS are two children of the same parents, and treating them unequally is unfair. House job is the right of every single veterinarian.
Sindh has veterinary doctors who have enormous potential. We just need a push and a single house job can help one to explore and polish one’s skills. In addition, it will ultimately boost the efficiency of the field force.
The relevant minister in Sindh should resolve this issue so that the shortage of better skilled and experienced veterinarians can be overcome in the province.
