PSL blues

THIS refers to the ongoing PSL matches and closure of the area around the National Stadium owing to security concerns. There is ample space available at the stadium to build a boarding house there to accommodate the players and the officials.

It can be managed and provided all the requirements under a contract with any five-star hotel. This is the best way to provide security and convenience to all. With such arrangement in place, citizens will not have to go through physical and mental agony in the shape of traffic jams and closure of streets around the stadium. Sports villages are designed for the same purpose, and we should go for such an arrangement without wasting more time.

THE PSL has begun in Karachi, and so has the misery of the commuters. While security of the cricketers is important, one thing is simply beyond comprehension. All along the route of the teams, from their hotel to the stadium, traffic police removes vehicles parked on service roads, forcing the car-owners to find parking in the adjoining lanes. Failure to do so results in cars being taken to police stations. Traffic police and all concerned need to think twice before coming up with such flawed arrangements in the name of security.

DESPITE the order of the Sindh High Court against blocking of roads, there has been a well-organised curfew in place outside and around the National Stadium these days owing to the ongoing PSL in Karachi.

This results in people facing trouble while commuting from their workplaces to home. Shops are closed, roads are blocked around the stadium, and there is even restriction on the movement of people towards hospitals in the vicinity. Having foolproof security for the stadium is essential, but allowing vehicular traffic to flow and shops to remain open is equally essential.
