Sectarian tension
SANGHAR: More than 50 local religious leaders and activists were booked on Thursday for creating a law and order situation by holding a sit-in and blocking thoroughfares with burning tyres and junk in the city.
The sit-in was held by followers of a sect who were protesting against police action during a scuffle between followers of two rival sects at a mosque in Chak No. 9 on Wednesday.
Both sides claim their right to manage the mosque’s affairs. The matter is pending adjudication in a court of law.
