Former ‘militant leader’ gunned down

QUETTA: A former militant leader of a banned outfit was shot dead in the Balgater area of Kech district on Tuesday, according to Levies officials.

They said the incident took place in Gaddagi village when some unidentified armed men barged into the house of the former militant leader, who had recently surrendered to security forces after abandoning his armed struggle against the government.

“Armed men opened indiscriminate fire on the former militant leader identified as Mirza, son of Bakhtiar Khan, resulting in his instant death,” a senior Levies officer confirmed.

Levies Force personnel rushed to the site and took the body to the district hospital.

“The former militant leader received multiple bullet wounds,” hospital sources said.

Mirza’s body was later handed over to his family after completing medico-legal formalities.

No one has so far claimed responsibility for the murder.

Levies Force is investigating the incident.
