KARAK: The residents and workers of the ruling party here have demanded of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan to order start of classes in the Government Alaf Jana Khattak Girls Degree College, Banda Daud Shah, during his visit to the district on Tuesday (tomorrow) so that local female students could continue their education after passing their higher secondary school examinations.

The demand came in a meeting of the workers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf with its Banda Daud Shah tehsil president Mujahid Khattak in the chair here on Sunday.

The speakers said that the lone degree college had been established in the last tenure of ANP provincial government and named after an activist of Khudai Khidmatgar movement, Alaf Jana Khattak.

They claimed that the college building had been completed more than six years ago, but classes could not be started as yet.

CM due to visit district tomorrow

They said the local female students could not continue their education after passing higher secondary school certificate examinations in the absence of degree classes. They said there was no institution for higher education in the area where the parents could admit their daughters.

They said the government should provide staff for the college and launch classes there without any delay.

TEHSIL BUILDING: Political and social activists have demanded of the government to demolish the old tehsil building of Karak as it is in bad shape and could collapse anytime.

The demand was made by Haq Nawaz Khattak, Tahir Iqbal Khattak and others while talking to mediapersons here on Sunday.

They said there were offices of government departments, including revenue, police, accounts office, AC office and others, in the old building constructed in 1950. They said the recent rain had exposed faults in the building.

They demanded of the government to reconstruct the building as soon as possible to avoid any untoward incident.

INJURED: Six people, including two women, were injured in a road accident on the Indus Highway near Niazi Well Chowk.

Police sources said here on Sunday that a van and two cars were involved in the accident that occurred near Niazi Well Chowk. Rescue 1122 officials shifted the injured to the DHQ hospital from where three of them were referred to a hospital in Peshawar.
