Call for simplification of export procedures, laws

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s businessmen and traders on Friday urged the State Bank (SBP) and Pakistan Customs to simplify procedures and remove complicated laws to boost national exports and enhance regional trade.

The demand was made during an awareness seminar titled ‘Foreign Exchange’ jointly organised by the SBP and Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

The event was chaired by SCCI president Sherbaz Bilour and senior vice president Engineer Manzoor Elahi.

On the occasion, participants shared the problems being faced by exporters and importers regarding the export form (E-Form), development surcharge and the US dollar versus Pak rupee among other issues.

The participants asked the commercial banks to facilitate the business community regarding the E-form so that it can help to improve bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan and rest of the regional countries.
