Three JuD leaders convicted

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday handed down six-month imprisonment each to three leaders of Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) in another case of terror financing registered by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

ATC-II Presiding Judge Arshad Hussain Bhutta announced the verdict in the first information report (FIR) number 32 of 2019 against Zafar Iqbal, Abdul Rehman Makki and Yahya Mujahid.

JuD chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and several other leaders have been convicted in many FIRs registered by the CTD on charges of terror financing.

The same court had awarded sentence to the same convicts in two other cases of terror financing three days back.

The CTD had registered 41 FIRs against the JuD leaders in various cities. The trial courts have so far decided 36 cases.

In a recent verdict, Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi of the defunct Lashkar-i-Taiba has also been awarded five-year imprisonment on three counts in a case of terror financing.
