Student stabbed to death by classmate

TAXILA: A second year student was stabbed to death by his classmate over a petty dispute in the jurisdiction of Hassanabdal Police station on Thursday.

The victim was identified as Aaqib Ali, resident of Baffad. Police, while quoting eye witnesses said both students of Govt Higher Secondary School, got into an argument on Wednesday. The next day, the suspect attacked Ali with a dagger when he was on his way home from school.

He was taken to THQ hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect received injuries too.

Hassanabdal police registered a murder case against the accused and started further investigation.

Meanwhile, two members of an inter-provincial gang were arrested and a stolen vehicle worth Rs3.4 million was recovered from their possession.

Sub Divisional Police Officer Raja Fayyaz ul Haq told reporters that the gang stole a 2020 model GLI car from the jurisdiction of Wah Saddar Police station and was smuggling it to Swabi, adding, police took prompt action and intercepted the vehicle at the entry point of Burhan interchange.

During preliminary investigation, he said, both suspects confessed that they had been working for an inter-provincial gang involved in lifting vehicles from Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Taxila and Wah.

The vehicles would be smuggled across provincial boundaries later and sold in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said, adding cases have been registered against both suspects.
