Doctor, dispenser arrested for ‘poisoning medical student to death’

DADU: A doctor and his dispenser were arrested on the charges of poisoning to death an MBBS student, Sana Arain, after her father lodged an FIR against the suspects at the Bhan Syedabad police station on Tuesday.

The complainant, Mohammed Arain, stated in his FIR that his daughter had visited Dr Ashok Kumar’s clinic for treatment several times. On her first visit, he stated, dispenser Saddam Hussain developed friendship with her and also gave her a mobile phone SIM.

Mr Arain claimed that during her last visit to the clinic a couple of days back, Dr Kumar, Saddam and two unknown persons administered an injection to her. She was taken to the Syed Abdullah Shah Institute of Medical and Health Sciences in Sehwan, he said, adding that she died during treatment.

Mr Arain alleged that the suspects had injected poison to his daughter which caused her death.

The police arrested Dr Ashok Kumar and dispenser Saddam Hussain and started an investigation.

Jamshoro SSP Mohammed Anwar Khetran said that the medical and post-mortem examination reports of the deceased woman were awaited. He held out the assurance that a proper and thorough probe into the complainant’s allegations would be carried out to reach a fair conclusion.
