‘Police reforms being implemented to ensure justice’

MULTAN: Additional Inspector General of Police South Punjab retired Captain Zafar Iqbal Awan says revolutionary reforms are being implemented in the police to provide justice to the common man.

Presiding over a meeting of police officers from south Punjab through a video link on Tuesday, Mr Awan said the police force should make it a mission to serve the people and provide them with justice.

Multan Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wasim Ahmed Khan, Bahawalpur RPO Zubair Ahmad Dareshak, Dera Ghazi Khan RPO Faisal Rana, Multan City Police Officer Multan Mehboob Rashid Mian and the district police officers participated in the meeting.

Mr Awan asked the police officers to demonstrate their best skills to ensure effective prevention of crime before its occurrence.

He said immediate challan of serious cases should be prepared and cases should be followed up in the courts and habitual offenders released from jails.

He said security equipment, including bullet-proof jackets, had been provided for protection of the police personnel deployed in the field.

Mr Awan said construction and upgrade projects of new police stations should be completed soon and police facilities should be beautified through plantation.

Multan Regional Police Officer Wasim Ahmad Khan gave a briefing to the meeting.
