Orphan boy made ‘Bannu DC’ for a day

LAKKI MARWAT: Bannu deputy commissioner Mohammad Zubair Niazi on Sunday fulfilled a wish of an orphan boy by making him the district administration’s head for a day.

Rehmanullah, 12, expressed the wish of becoming the deputy commissioner during a visit to the DC office along with other orphan children staying in a child welfare home here.

The district social welfare department arranged the visit on the instructions of the deputy commissioner, who spent a busy day with the orphans and also had a lunch with them.

Rehmanullah sat at the deputy commissioner’s chair and addressed the administration officials and his schoolmates.

“My future goal is to become deputy commissioner and serve the nation,” said Rehmatullah, a grade 5 student enrolled in the child welfare home school.

He praised his teachers for imparting quality education and playing role in the pupils’ character building.

He also thanked the deputy commissioner for his kind gesture.

The deputy commissioner also fulfilled a wish of the orphan children that they wanted to go on a recreational tour to Islamabad, Murree and Swat. He also distributed gifts among the orphans.

CRICKET GALA: A cricket gala in remote Abdulkhel village of Lakki Marwat concluded with a colourful prize distribution ceremony on Sunday.

Over 10 teams participated in the tournament organised by a local cricket club, Raza Cricket Council to provide the young players with an opportunity to exhibit their skills. The final match was played between Young Star Abdulkhel and Drone Club Tabi Murad, with the latter winning by 12 runs after a thrilling contest.

A large number of game lovers from different areas had gathered in the village to watch the final.

RCC president Nawab Ali Khan, who was the chief guest, distributed trophies and cash prizes among the players of the winning and runner-up teams.

He also announced Rs60,000 for the tournament’s organising committee.
