Approach to island

THIS is with reference to the article ‘Bundal Island life’ (Dec 24) which seems to have been based on very little information about the island and the subject matter.

Bundal Island covers a territorial land of about 8,000 acres. The distance from the nearest access point in DHA Phase VIII will be less than 500 metres, while the distance from the farthest point in DHA Phase VIII will not exceed 2,000 metres. A bridge across DHA linking Bundal Island will cost much less than the unexplained estimates in the writeup. A normal ferry plying at 15 knots between two points will not take more than 15 minutes, including docking and undocking. Also, the water around the area is of shallow depth.

The arguments raised in the said article were poorly formed.

APROPOS the article ‘Bundal Island life’ (Dec 24), it has stated that Bundal Island is one mile away from DHA Phase VIII, and it will take two hours to reach there by boat. The fact is that the normal speed of a motorboat is about 30 nautical miles per hour and it should not take more than 10 minutes to cover this distance.

Manora is about two miles away from Keamari, and it takes about 15 minutes to reach there by old, rickety boats.
