Land acquired for setting up SEZ in GB: Gandapur

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has said that the federal government has acquired land for setting up a special economic zone (SEZ) in GB under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.

“Efforts are afoot to start development work on the special economic zone,” Mr Gandapur told a delegation of the GB ministers who called on him here on Saturday. The meeting discussed future strategy for carrying out development work in GB.

The delegation comprised GB Minister for Wildlife and Forest Raja Mohammad Zakirya Khan, Minister for Excise and Taxation Shah Baig, Minister for Tourism Raja Naseem, Minister for Food Shams Lone, Minister for Local Government Abdul Hameed and Minister for Health Gulbar Khan.

Mr Gandapur called for extensive efforts to fulfil the mandate given to the PTI in the recent GB polls.

He said that both the federal and GB governments would follow an all-inclusive strategy to achieve sustainable development in the area.

The federal minister said that following the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan more attention would be paid to education, tourism, health and hydel power sectors.
