Karak miners get training on safety measures

KARAK: The Rescue 1122 officials on Wednesday imparted a daylong training on safety measures to salt miners in Bahaderkhel area here.

Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation manager Ali Naqvi was also present on the occasion.

The personnel demonstrated the skills to retrieve the miners trapped under debris.

They asked the miners to use safety helmets, shoes and gloves before entering the salt mines to be secure during work.

They were guided on how to contact the helpline of Rescue 1122 in case of an emergency so the rescuers could reach the troubled spot without delay.

MEETING: The newly-appointed DSP of Banda Daud Shah Sanobar Khan held a meeting with the elders in the Teri police station on Wednesday to discuss the aftermath of the unfortunate incident of burning down of a Hindu shrine by a mob.

The DSP said Karak had always been a peaceful district, but the incident had earned a bad name for it.

He asked the people to thwart such incidents in future and protect the worship places of all religions.

He said if people had grievances they should discuss them with the police.

The local elders assured the police of preventing such incidents in future.

DSP Sanobar Shah also sought the elders’ support to curb firing in the air and crack down on drug peddlers and other criminals to secure life and property of citizens.

The elders extended their support to the police in that regard as well and said they would make every possible effort to make the tehsil a peaceful region.
