12 TTP men convicted of killing five policemen

HYDERABAD: Antiterrorism Court Judge Ghulam Mustafa A. Memon on Friday sentenced 12 activists of the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to 25-years imprisonment in a case pertaining to the killing of five policemen in an attack that took place in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Karachi, The convicts were also ordered to pay a fine of Rs200,000 each and in case of default undergo another two-years imprisonment.

The case against them was registered vide crime No. 44/2004 on April 4, 2004 at the Gulistan-i-Jauhar police station.

The trial was held inside the Hyderabad Central Prison for security reasons. The convicts are also facing a trial in the infamous Karachi corps command attack case of 2004.

The accused are Attaur Rehman alias Tahir Umar, Shahzad Bajwa alias Umar, Mohammad Shoaib Siddiqui alias Usman, Danish Imam alias Shami, Uzair Ahmed Abdullah alias Kashif, Khurram Shahzad, Khurram Saifullah, Yaqoob Saeed, Najeebullah alias Atif, Shahzad Mukhtiar alias Talha, Qasim alias Hamza, Rao Khalid alias Haris and Syed Adnan Shah.
