Case against 16 lawyers for attacking police to rescue accused

FAISALABAD: A case has been registered against 16 lawyers on the charges of taking away a suspect from police custody and thrashing policemen.

Submitting an application, Muhammad Amin, a sub-inspector of the Nishatabad police, said he along with fellow policemen came to the district courts on Dec 1 to produce Rizwan before a court. He said the accused was booked on Dec 1 in a case of hurling threats.

At the main gate of courts, he alleged that 16 lawyers led by Awais Randhawa put up resistance with the police to free the accused and they attacked police.

The Civil Lines police registered a case under section 148, 149, 186, 224, 225 and 353 of PPC with no arrest.

Police sources said the officials had just completed the file work by registering a case against the accused lawyers but no senior officer would dare to lay hand on them and ensure their arrest.
