From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1970: Fifty Years Ago: Relief plane crashes

DACCA: A CL-44 cargo plane of the Icelandic Airlines crashed near Dacca this afternoon [Dec 2]. All the four members of the crew and three villagers were killed.

The plane, chartered by the International Red Cross, was carrying relief material from Luxem­bourg. It crashed in village Shadhapur in Dham­rai police station, 14 miles from Dacca, minutes be­fore it was due to land at Tejgaon airport at 4 p.m.

Villagers saw the plane roll in the sky and catch fire before crashing near a school building. The flaming wreckage of the plane fell on some huts which caught fire which killed three residents and injured two others critically.

Witnesses said they saw the plane rolling down for a while when it plunged down in flames. It crashed with a loud explosion. ...

[Meanwhile, as reported by an agency in Multan,] A small Cessna plane of Multan Flying Club crash landed ... near Kehror Pacca, about 60 miles from here, while airdropping pamphlets for a political party. Two members of the crew, pilot Mohammad Saeed and 2nd pilot Shakeel Ahmed and another person whose name could not be ascertained were injured.
