Neglected Jiwani

JIWANI, a town in Gwadar, has a total population of 30,000 but lacks fundamental facilities, such as water, electricity and educational institutions. The town gets the attention of politicians only during election campaigns, but is widely ignored otherwise.

Political parties make promises for the development of Jiwani in order to gain votes, but turn a blind eye towards it as soon as the elections are over. The students of the town have to travel to other cities to continue their education after matriculation. There is a girls’ college in the area, but not a single college for boys who are either forced to travel thousands of kilometres to Karachi or Islamabad to receive education, or are compelled to quit their studies altogether and choose fishing as their livelihood to feed their families.

I urge the government to look into the matter and provide all the basic facilities the residents of Jiwani deserve.
