Ulema to help address refusal cases in Oghi

MANSEHRA: The ulema and religious scholars have vowed to help the health department address the polio refusal

cases in Oghi tehsil during the three-day anti-polio drive starting in Mansehra district on Monday (today).

They made the decision at a meeting held in Oghi on Sunday.

Religious figures from across Oghi showed up in the meeting pledging their support to the health department to eliminate the poliovirus from the tehsil.

Dr Sajjad, head of the rural health centre, said: “If ulema accompanied the vaccinators during the drive it will leave an encouraging effect on parents and they will allow administration of polio vaccine to their children without any hesitation.

He said because of the effective role being played by the religious scholars and clerics the refusal cases had dropped drastically in the tehsil.

On the occasion, district Khateeb Matiur Rehman said ulema were convinced that polio drops didn’t cause impotency or infertility among children.
