Repair of streetlights in Lakki demanded

LAKKI MARWAT: People here have demanded of the tehsil municipal administration to repair streetlights and broken poles and launch a project for renovation work at busy squares in Lakki city.

The streetlights installed at main bus stand by former tehsil government a few months before end of its tenure are presently in bad condition. The former local government had completed the project under the beautification initiative.

However, several poles of streetlights fixed in the median of Tajazai-Darra Tang section of Bannu-Mianwali road in Lakki city have been removed a few months ago after being hit and broken by speeding vehicles.

The residents said that the authorities of tehsil municipal administration had been ignoring repair and reinstallation of poles. He said the bus stand locality was the hub of business activities and these days it presented a look of a ghost city at night due to darkness.

They condemned the TMA for not paying heed to repair of the streetlights despite lapse of several months. They said the busy squares like Shaheed Abid Ali Chowk, Shaheed Qazi Ishfaq Chowk, Michenkhel Adda and Saeedkhel Mor also presented a picture of neglect.

They demanded of the district administration to include the projects of repairing streetlights and renovation of busy squares in the annual development programme of the district.
