16 more fall prey to Covid-19

KARACHI: Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday said that 16 more patients of coronavirus died overnight and 1,322 new cases emerged when 10,837 tests were conducted raising the tally to 164,651.

In a statement issued here from CM House, Mr Shah said that currently 15,440 patients were under treatment, of them 14,818 were in home isolation, 12 at isolation centres and 610 at different hospitals. “The condition of 545 patients is stated to be critical, including 67 shifted to ventilators,” he added.

Murad Ali Shah said that out of 1,322 new cases, 1,065 were detected in Karachi, including 416 in South, 355 in East, 110 in Central, 66 in West, 61 in Korangi, and 57 in Malir.

He said that Hyderabad had 83 cases, Jamshoro 37, Sujawal 19, Matiari 18, Shaheed Benazirabad and Naushahro Feroze 15 each, Umerkot and Ghotki nine each, Sukkur six, Larkana five, Thatta four, Tando Mohammad Khan and Badin two each, and Dadu, Jacobabad, Sanghar, Shikarpur and Tharparkar had one case each.

Indoor dining banned

Meanwhile, the city administration imposed complete ban on indoor dining in all restaurants and eateries in the city in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases.

The city commissioner issued directives to the deputy commissioners in this regard asking them to ensure dining in open-air places only.
