Children, medical wards to be set up in Karak hospital

KARAK: District Health Officer, Karak, Dr Niaz Ali Khan has directed the medical superintendent of the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Takht-i-Nusrati, to launch medical and children wards in the facility within two weeks.

He issued the instructions during a visit to the hospital on Sunday. During the visit, he also inspected different wards of the hospital and checked facilities.

The district health officer said that the local people had long been demanding setting up of the two important wards in the health facility.

Mr Niaz Ali said that the people of the tehsil were forced to visit the District Headquarters Hospital, Karak, due to absence of children and medical wards in the tehsil hospital. He said the launch of the two wards in the THQ hospital would lessen the pressure of patients on the main health facility of the district.

He said that it would provide an opportunity of better treatment to the poor patients at their doorstep, thus saving them from the trouble of going to other health centres of the district, and even out of the district. He stressed that no delay should be made in making operational the children and medical wards.

Dr Abdul Qudoos, the medical superintendent of the THQ hospital, thanked the DHO for realising the longstanding demand of the locals. He resolved that children and medical wards would be made operational within the stipulated time.
