Illegal abattoirs

KARACHI: Malir city police on Tuesday claimed to have conducted a crackdown against illegal slaughterhouses and arrested two suspects.

According to the police sources, a team of Malir city police conducted a raid on a tip-off at an illegal slaughterhouse in Aleemabad area and arrested two suspects identified as Abdul Ghani and Imrani and recovered more than 100kg unhealthy meat from the abattoir while Qamar Khalid alias Pappu, an accomplice of the arrested accused, escaped.

The police also said that meat of the illegally slaughtered animals was taken into custody. The arrested suspects said during interrogation that they used to supply meat of sick animals to the market, the police claimed. A case has been registered against the arrested accused.
