I HAD to encounter several difficulties in the process of getting my domicile recently. The domicile certificate is a necessity for seeking admission in public-sector universities and while applying for government jobs.

On the basis of my personal experience and observations, I suggest that the domicile management website should be updated right away. There is incomplete information with regards to the documents required for the process which causes inconvenience to the applicants.

Besides, there are pricing issues. The vendors sitting outside the government office charge much higher sums than the fee prescribed by the provincial government. They have formed a cartel and it is almost impossible for a citizen to obtain a domicile certificate without availing the services of a vendor.

The authorities concerned need to ensure that they make public services more convenient and transparent.
