KARACHI: Former first-class spinner Usama Basharat excelled with five wickets for 15 runs as MS United sealed a crushing 104-run victory over Shah Town Gymkhana in the Master CT 20 Colour Kit Cricket League at the RLCA Ground here on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Daniyal played back-to-back knocks of 91 and 87 but still failed to save Sherdil Punjab Club losing both their opening fixtures.

Brodie, Carranza shine at Polo Cup

LAHORE: Diamond Paints/FG Polo and Master Paints Black recorded comfortable victories in the Total Nutrition Polo Cup here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Wednesday.

Diamond Paints/FG Polo comfortably defeated Pebble Breaker 8-1 1/2. Tom Brodie struck four goals for the winners while Mian Abbas Mukhtar and Saqib Khan Khakwani scored a brace each.

The losing side, which had a half-goal handicap advantage, earned their only goal through Amirreza Behboudi.

Meanwhile, Master Paints Black in a one-sided match defeated AOS 10-5 1/2.

Mannuel Carranza fired in fantastic five goals while Ignacio Vincent also impressed with a hat-trick. Sufi Haroon and Raja Taimur Nadeem contributed with a goal each.

Australia’s lone-time swim coach Talbot dies

SYDNEY: Long-time former Australia coach Don Talbot has died age 87, with the swimming world on Wednesday remembering him as a legend of the sport who oversaw his country’s golden era in the pool.

Talbot passed away peacefully on Tuesday.

He began his coaching career in the 1950s and was Australia’s head swimming coach during its peak in the 1990s and 2000s — including at the 2000 Sydney Olympics when Australia produced their best result in almost 30 years by winning 18 medals.
