KARACHI: A suspected bandit was killed in a shoot-out with police while a constable was also wounded in the industrial area of F. B Area on Tuesday, officials said.

An official at the Federal B Industrial Area police station said that a police party on patrol spotted suspected motorcyclists in Block 22.

As the police signalled them to stop for snap checking, one of the riders fired shots at the police mobile that left constable Deen Mohammad wounded.

“They sped away after firing,” said the official. “Two of our colleagues moved the wounded constable to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital while the rest in the police mobile went after the armed motorcyclists and finally trapped them in one of the narrow lanes. They kept firing and after a brief exchange of gunfire, one of the bandits was hit and he died on the spot. The two others ran away. We have recovered two pistols and a motorbike from them.”

He said the deceased was not identified yet. The injured constable was said to be out of danger.
