From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1970: Fifty Years Ago: Airport investigation

KARACHI: Two Senior Police Officers of the rank of Deputy Superintendents were suspended yesterday [Nov 2] ... by the Inspector-General of Police, Sind, in connection with Sunday’s airport incident. The suspended officers are: Syed Jafar Raza, D.S.P., Special Branch, Airport Immigration, who was in charge of the security of the plane at the tarmac, and Mr Yunus Jafri, D.S.P., who was in charge of the security arrangements at the airport building....

Meanwhile, senior police officers and security men re-constructed the “security arrangements” scene yesterday morning to find how an unauthorised entry could be effected. This was done in the light of the statement given by the accused, Mohammad Feroze Abdullah.

The investigations are proceeding on the basis of several theories: was it a conspiracy to murder the Polish President, or a conspiracy against Pakistan to bring a bad name to the country, or just an act of a religious fanatic as the accused is reported to have said after his arrest that he wanted to die as a ‘mujahid’.... A note was found on his person which contained a slogan “dying for Islam is Jehad”.

The Motor Vehicle Examiner of the Traffic Police who examined the “killer” vehicle which is now in police custody, found it in perfect condition mechanically. There was nothing wrong with either the brakes or the tyres, police said.
