Appointment of new FDE head notified

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training on Tuesday notified appointment of Dr Ikram Ali Malik as the new director general of Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).

The FDE is a regulatory body for 423 educational institutions in Islamabad and it had been without a regular head for four years, however, the ministry after a competitive procedure, notified Dr Malik, as new head of the directorate in grade 21 for the next three years.

The new head, according to officials of FDE will be confronted with several issues that schools and colleges being run under the directorate are facing including delays in salaries and regularisation of daily-wage teachers, hiring drivers and sanitation staff, lack of maintenance facilities and funds, shortage of subject specialist teachers, adhocism and so on.

President of Federal Government Teachers’ Assocation Malik Ameer appreciated the government’s decision of appointing a new DG and said that that teachers are happy over the appointment of an educationist who has an excellent record.
