UHE terminates six-year BS Home Economics
LAHORE: A meeting of the University of Home Economics (UHE) Syndicate was held on Tuesday.
In a significant development, the Syndicate approved the termination of six years Annual BS Home Economics Programme 2018 as per the policy of Higher Education Commission and guidelines of the Higher Education Department.
Punjab Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasir Humayun Sarfraz chaired the meeting while UHE Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen, MPA Rashida Khanum, MPA Shazia Abid, Higher Education Department Deputy Secretary Tanzeel Sheikh, GCWU Sialkot Prof Dr Rukhsana Kausar, GCU Prof Dr Khalid Hameed Sheikh, representatives of Secretary Law and Parliamentary Affairs and Chairperson HEC were present.
The Syndicate confirmed minutes of its third meeting as the draft was circulated among the participants and their suggestions had been incorporated.
The Syndicate reviewed VC’s progress and implementation report on new appointments, the commencement of BS programmes, HEC accreditation, infrastructure development, blended admissions and examination procedures, and creation of new departments. It gave approval to the Model Services Statutes with slight amendments and the draft was recommended for approval by the chancellor.
The Syndicate also approved Budget 2020-21 of the UHE and gave formal approval for the creation of three new departments.
A special fee package for students, as recommended by the academic council, was also approved.
BLACK DAY: The University of Management and Technology (UMT) held a walk to observe Oct 27 as black day in solidarity with the people of India-held Kashmir.
A number of students, faculty and other staff participated in the walk by holding placards and raising slogans for the freedom of Kashmir.
UMT President Ibrahim Hassan Murad said the United Nations and other world leading powers should intervene for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue.
