The right demand
THIS is apropos your editorial ‘Capt Safdar’s arrest’ (Oct 21). It has rightly demanded an impartial inquiry and its outcome to be made public as the siege of the house of an inspector-general of police is no ordinary matter.
The incident has demoralised and demotivated the provincial police force, and, by the looks of it, the matter was a criminal offence. Credibility and integrity of a highly prestigious institution of the country, which has made countless sacrifices while fighting against terrorists, seems to be at stake in the wake of this incident.
I urge all concerned to ensure not only an impartial and transparent inquiry into the incident, but also punishing those found guilty. This will help all the institutions regain their dignity.
