Rs25 billion recovered in three years: PAC chairman

TAXILA: Punjab Public Accounts Committee Chairman Syed Yawar Abbas Bokhari said on Sunday Rs25 billion have been recovered in the last three years.

During a visit to Attock, Mr Bokhari said the PTI government was taking the country towards prosperity and development, and the county would be out of crises soon.

He said Sahulat Bazaars have been set up across Punjab at the tehsil level where wheat flour and sugar are being sold at subsidised prices, while a crackdown against overcharging and hoarding is ongoing.

Mr Bokhari also inaugurated the polio vaccination campaign by administering the vaccine to children. He said it is a national obligation to make the campaign successful, as that is the only way to eradicate the disease.

He said polio could be eradicated completely if all children below the age of five are vaccinated. He called upon religious scholars to use their influence to address misconceptions about the polio vaccine.

Mr Bokhari said the vaccine is completely safe, and parents should not believe misconceptions.

Chief Executive Officer Health Dr Sohail Awan said that the polio vaccination campaign would continue from Oct 26 to Oct 30, with a goal to vaccinate 296,662 children in Attock district.

A total of 1,160 teams have been formed in this regard, which will go door to door to administer the vaccine to children aged up to five years.

Dr Awan said vaccination facilities are also available in all hospitals, health centres, at bus stops, railway stations and all points of exit and entry into the district.
