Rangoonwala CC win T20 final

KARACHI: Rangoonwala CC inflicted a shock six-wicket defeat on SHS Schooling System to seal the First Corporate Twenty20 League cricket title at the Quaid-e-Azam Park in Pakistan Steel Township on Sunday.

After being sent into bat in the final, SHS Schooling System were shot out for 102 in 16.2 overs as leg-spinner Mohammad Junaid snared three wickets for 15 runs while medium-pacer Zaheer Manzoor (2-14) and off-spinner Hussain Ali (2-23) lent excellent support.

Rangoonwala CC, in their chase, achieved deserved victory by reaching the modest target with 27 balls to spare, while losing four wickets. Ahmed Abdul Malik struck four boundaries and two sixes in scoring 39 off 29 deliveries.

Senior PTI Sindh leader Dr Masroor Ali Siyal graced the occasion as the chief guest and distributed the prizes along with PTI general secretary of Bin Qasim Town Umair Shahid.

Rangoonwala CC skipper Ejaz Ahmed received a purse of Rs30,000 with the winners’ trophy, while the runners-up side captain Waqas Hashmi collected Rs10,000 and the trophy.

Junaid was declared man-of-the-match for his excellent bowling. He was also adjudged the competition’s best bowler for taking 10 wickets.

Other individual prizes went to Kashif Rajput of SHS Schooling System. He was named best batsman for his aggregate of 279 in the event. Rangoonwala CC’s Ahmed Abdul Malik won the player-of-the-tournament for scoring 175 runs and claiming seven wickets.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Masroor lauded the efforts of chief organiser Atiq Ahmed for holding the tournament in a befitting manner.
