Durrani tribe to support efforts for Dir peace

LOWER DIR: The Durrani tribe has announced support to the security forces and the police in maintaining peace in the region.

The announcement was made during a convention of the tribe at Mayar in Jandol the other day.

Tribal elders and youth from different districts attended the convention.

Central president of the tribe Abbas Durrani, vice-president Nida Khan, provincial president Malik Khan Badshah, Abdul Ghaffar Gujjar and others spoke on the occasion.

The speakers said the tribal youth would support the law enforcement agencies in efforts to curb lawlessness and militancy in the area. They condemned the recent sabotage acts in Maidan area.

The tribe’s provincial president, Malik Khan Badshah, remained unhurt when his vehicle was attacked with a remote-controlled bomb in Barjo Gat area of Maidan on Sept 24. Two of his guards were injured in the attack.

The speakers condemned the attack on Malik Badshah and termed it a cowardly act.
