THATTA: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Sindh chapter’s general secretary Maulana Rashid Mehmood Soomro has said the promulgation of presidential ordinance on islands is the first step towards establishment of a new province within the territorial boundaries of Sindh.
He said the recent ordinance about handing over of Sindh’s islands to the federal government was the first part of the “conspiracy” aimed at violating sovereignty of Sindh by carving out another province.
He told media persons after addressing party workers at Madressah Bab-ul-Islam here on Monday afternoon that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government had miserably failed to deliver as it lacked political sense needed to tackle sensitive issues.
He claimed that millions of people were scheduled to participate in Pakistan Democratic Movement’s mass convention in Karachi this month, which would reject “biased” policies of PTI government against Sindh.
He condemned recent murder of religious scholar Maulana Dr Adil Khan in Karachi and said Dr Adil was assassinated for raising his voice against blaspheming criminals. He called for arrest of actual masterminds behind the murder.
Soomro said that under a conspiracy people affiliated with different sects and tribes had started clashing with each other, which had diverted public attention away from real issues of public.
He called for an end to the practice of picking up innocent people in Sindh, many of whom later ended up with charred bodies. The situation was becoming explosive hence the authorities should take concrete steps before it exploded and went out of control. The government should take notice of a growing sense of deprivation among people of smaller federating units, he said.
He claimed that extraordinary rise in inflation and unemployment, economic failure as well as failed domestic and foreign policies had brought the country to the brink of disaster and now time was ripe that the PTI government step down.
He advised Pakistan Peoples Party to shun “ifs, buts, hows and whys” after joining the PDM. The PPP should be prepared to take direct action and when it was asked to quit its Sindh government it should be ready.
He said NAB which had remained instrumental in acting against the government’s opponents stood entirely exposed after disclosures of former director general of FIA Bashir Memon. The NAB should think twice before implicating JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in a fictitious case, he said.
Soomro attended a gathering of his party workers and addressed them. JUI-F’s spokesperson Maulana Taj Mohammad Nahiyoon and others also accompanied their leader.
