LOWER DIR: The Pakistan International Human Rights Organisation (PIHRO), Lower Dir chapter, with the help of the Khall police here on Saturday recovered a four-year-old girl from her stepmother’s house in Sacha Mera village.

The semi-conscious and malnourished baby girl was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Timergara, with severe torture marks on her body.

The Khall police arrested the victim’s parents and registered a case against them.

Talking to journalists, PIHRO in-charge Alam Khan Yousafzai said some locals informed the organisation on phone that a woman from Chitral and her husband had kept their minor girl locked in a room of their house for last 30 days. He said the baby was tortured and was in critical condition.

Mr Yousafzai said the organisation’s activists along with police raided the house and recovered the girl in serious condition.

According to the police, the baby girl had severe torture marks on her body.

SHO Khall Mehran Khan told journalists that the couple belonged to Arandu area of Chitral and was living in Sacha Mera area. He said the victim’s father had divorced his first wife (the victim’s mother) and lived in Khall with his second wife.
