From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1945: Seventy-five years ago: Jews & Palestine

(LETTER) Some writers believe that “it does not seem worthwhile to discuss the Palestine problem now either in relation to the Balfour Declaration or the British White Paper”, but the problem … is a source of great indignation for the Muslims throughout the world.

The war is over. Jews are demanding their pound of flesh from Britain for the support they gave to the Allies, both in men and money, during the long drawn-out World War II. They are harping upon the same old tune, and want to set up a Jewish State in Palestine. …

If Jews have no home of their own, it is no fault of the Arabs who should not be compelled at the point of bayonet to provide a “national home” for the children of Zion.

The Jews are very powerful politically both in America and England, and the Allies, not the Arabs, are indebted to them for their support in the prosecution of the war.

These two countries, and not the Arabs, should reward them for their services by carving out slices from their vast dominions and converting them into Jewish homes. …

Yours, etc
