Primary schools reopen after six months

LAHORE: Primary schools reopened here on Wednesday after a break of over six months.

Covid-19 had forced the government to close the educational institutions in March.

Earlier, on Sept 15, educational institutions from class 9 to university level had been reopened in the first phase, followed by class six to eight on Sept 23 in the second phase.

The decision in this regard was taken on the basis of statistics as after the opening of educational institutions on Sept 15 in the first phase, 171,436 tests had been conducted in the institutions across the country. Of them only 1,284 positive (0.8pc) cases were reported among teachers, students and staffers.

Most schools in the city observed standard operating procedures (SOPs) as children and school staff were seen wearing masks.

The government has assured the parents that strict monitoring of schools will be carried out and there will be no compromise on implementation of health guidelines and SOPs to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

BISE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Lahore, has granted permission to all those college students whose admission was not sent due to shortage of lectures, ‘F’ grades or the one with last chance to sit in Special Covid-19 exam starting on Oct 10.

It said the admission forms with a single fee can be submitted by Oct 2 through college login.
